SLAPOA is the administrative arm of SLA (Silver Lakes Acres) and is responsible for the collection of annual maintenance fees and disbursements.

SLAPOA has a volunteer Board of Directors to manage revenue and disbursements.   Since we operate entirely with volunteers, help is needed with maintenance on clubhouse, marina, beach area, waterways, and general operations.

An Annual Meeting is held each year (per the By-Laws) at 7:30 pm the first Tuesday of December at the Community Center.  Board of Director meetings are held periodically and are posted on the bulletin board in front of the clubhouse and our website.  All members in good standing are welcome at the meetings.

As a Property Owners Association (POA) the covenants are attached to the land and along with the By-Laws can be accessed on the link provided. All documents are filed with Marion County, FL and an Annual Report is filed with the State of Florida Corporations.  While we operate with volunteers, the fees and covenants are mandatory. Fees are $100.00 per lot per year.  They are due January 1st and delinquent March 31st. Invoices are mailed or emailed in December.

Activities at the community center include a once-a-month breakfast and potluck, weekly cards/games, and other activities that are announced on the bulletin board located in front of the community center on SE 169th Terrace Rd.

SILVER LAKE ACRES PROPERTY OWNER’S ASSOCIATION, INC

ANNUAL INFORMATION LETTER – 2024

A.  Results of vote on amending By-Laws and Maintenance fees:

There was a total of 134 lots that responded to the Ballot sent out. According to our By-Laws, we were required to have a 2/3rd positive (66.7%) vote from the total ballots returned in order to change the By-Law.  We had 98.5 lots that responded “yes” and that gave us 73.51%.  The increase was passed and will be effective on January 1, 2024.

We look forward to the ability to make some repairs, have the canals seeded and sprayed twice a year, and move forward in placing liens and considering foreclosures on delinquent properties.  A meeting time will be posted for an exchange of ideas on developing goals for improvements.

 B.  Volunteers:

Volunteers are needed to help with monitoring street lighting, potholes and reporting, a welcome committee for new residents, and developing a Facebook page, We need a Secretary to record minutes during the meetings.   Our community is only as strong as the participation of its residents.
